Staying at our farmhouse offers a truly unique experience: the tranquility of the Tuscan countryside just a stone's throw from the vibrant city of Florence. Just a 45-minute drive away, you can immerse yourself in the history, art, and culture of one of the world's most beautiful cities, then return to the peace and quiet of your rural haven. Here are some tips to make the most of your Florentine adventure:
Getting to Florence from the Farmhouse:
By Car: The route is straightforward and well-signposted. We recommend parking in one of the park-and-ride lots outside the historic center (for example, Villa Costanza, Piazzale Michelangelo Parking, or SMN Station Parking) and then using public transport (tram or bus) to reach the heart of the city. This will save you the stress of traffic and the difficulty of finding parking downtown.
By Train: From Montevarchi-Terranuova station (easily reachable from the farmhouse) there are frequent trains to Florence Santa Maria Novella, the central station. The journey takes about 40-50 minutes and is a great alternative to driving, allowing you to enjoy the scenery without any parking worries.

What to See in Florence (Even in Just One Day):
The Duomo and Piazza del Duomo Complex: The imposing Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, with its Brunelleschi's Dome, the Baptistery, and Giotto's Campanile, is a must-see. Book your tickets online to avoid long queues.
The Uffizi Gallery: One of the world's most important museums, housing masterpieces by Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and many others. Again, online booking is highly recommended.
Ponte Vecchio: The famous bridge lined with goldsmiths' shops is a symbol of Florence. Stroll across it at sunset for an unforgettable view of the Arno River.
Palazzo Vecchio and Piazza della Signoria: The political heart of Florence, with its impressive architecture and the statues adorning the square.
Accademia Gallery: Here you can admire Michelangelo's David, an icon of the Renaissance.
Boboli Gardens: A wonderful example of an Italian garden, with fountains, statues, and panoramic views of the city.
Helpful Tips for Your Visit:
Book in Advance: Especially during high season, it's essential to book museum and attraction tickets online to avoid queues and guarantee entry.
Wear Comfortable Shoes: Florence is best explored on foot, so comfortable shoes are a must for tackling the cobblestone streets.
Sample Florentine Cuisine: Don't miss the famous Florentine steak (bistecca alla fiorentina), ribollita (bread and vegetable soup), pappa al pomodoro (tomato bread soup), and a good glass of Chianti wine.
Soak Up the Atmosphere: Florence is a city rich in history and beauty. Take the time to wander through its streets, admire the palaces, and enjoy the unique atmosphere.
Consider a Firenze Card: If you plan to visit many museums, the Firenze Card might be a good value. Check the costs and included attractions.
A Complete Experience:
Staying at our farmhouse offers you the best of both worlds: the tranquility of the Tuscan countryside and proximity to one of the most beautiful art cities in the world. After a day spent among the masterpieces of Florence, you can relax in the quiet of your retreat, enjoying the peace and beauty of nature.
